Flash posts strong weekend showings

flash hThe weekend was fruitful for the South Lafourche Flash 7th grade girls and 8th grade boys teams – each enjoying success in their respective events.

The Lady Flash played in the prestigious Super 60 Tournament in New Orleans, going up against some of the best 7th grade teams from around the United States.

The ladies fell in their first pool play game, but then battled back, winning the last pool play game, then storming past the Mississippi Express by a 40-17 margin in the opening bracket game to punch a spot in the event’s semifinals.

But in the Final 4, the ball didn’t bounce the Flash’s way, and our ladies fell to the Katy Rebels, the event’s eventual champion.

Congrats to the 7th Grade squad on a tremendous showing in a tough venue.

The guys scored a thrilling opening-game winning, beating the home Broncos by one point – a game which may have been the most hotly competitive contest of the entire event.

In the afternoon game of pool play, the Flash fell to the Hurricanes by a slim margin.

In bracket play, an early start time doomed the guys, as the Buffalo Soldiers used a fast start and swarming defense to score a 35-20 victory to end our team’s weekend.

But the Flash made strides on the weekend and made a great showing in Zachary.

Footwork, Footwork, Footwork

Our third grade team had a red-hot weekend in Port Allen, posting a runner-up finish – the first-ever trophy finish in the history of the first-year of the age group.

But the work is not yet done. Just two days after the solid weekend finish, Coach St. Pierre and staff got the band back together and worked heavily on footwork – all in an effort to continue boasting the young team’s skills with the peak of the summer rolling around.

Check out a small snippet of the work here.

Brotherhood and the Flash Family

DSC_0214Yes, we are an AAU basketball program. Yes, we love to win. Yes, we enjoy competing at the highest level we can in any given event.

But at the same time, we also take pride in family, togetherness, skill-development and memory making.

That was on display big-time this past weekend in Port Allen.

During Championship Sunday, our 7th grade boys were in a double-overtime dogfight. Playing in a gym more than 100 miles away and with a fairly early opening tip time, our kids had every excuse laid out perfectly to fall short.

But they didn’t, thanks, in part, to the Flash Family.

While the battle waged on, parents from all our teams painted the gym orange, giving it a home-game feel for our kids.

Our 3rd grade team stood along the first row (pictured) and rooted on their older brothers’ every move.

We won the game and moved on to the Finals.

But it was more than that. A brotherhood and a bond was formed.

The Flash Family struck again, and it was awesome to see!

Flash boasts strong weekend

It was one heck of a weekend for the South Lafourche Flash – both on and off the court.

Four of our teams competed in the Louisiana Ballers Mayhem Classic in Port Allen, and three of the teams played in the title game.

Congratulations to our third grade boys, fourth grade boys and seventh grade boys on bringing home that hardware!

Great work boys, let’s win some more trophies before the summer is done!

Reminder – our eighth grade boys will be going to work THIS WEEKEND in Zachary, Louisiana.
